Anna Pavlova!

Hello everyone! Today I am going to be writing about a famous old ballerina, Anna Pavlova. You might recognize her name from the dessert Pavlova.

In fact its actually named after her. Because her jumps were so light and high. The pavlova is a type of baiser. Its actually pretty yummy. I have made one and they are pretty good. But anyways, Anna pavlova was born on the 12th of February in 1881 and died in January 1931. She died when she was 49 years old. Thats really young!

This is a picture of her. She refused to get pictures where she was not in her pointe shoes. Her feet were not nicely shaped. Thats why I am going to tell you why she did put a piece of wood in her shoes.

. She went to the Vaganaova Academy of  Russian ballet and was a star student there. Anna Pavlova was the first ballerina to go on a world tour. Anna Started Dancing when she was inspired by her mom. When she was 10 years old she had her first ballet performance.

When she was 9 her mom took her to the Imperial ballet school of Russia. But when she first started ballet her nickname was ,,the little savage”. poor Anna. But Then she became a world class ballet dancer so who’s the savage now?

She even became the Principal dancer of 2 different ballet schools. She was most famous for her role in The dying Swan. She graduated from the Vaganova academy when she was just 18 years old.

Did you know that she added a piece of wood to the soles of her pointe shoes. She did that to strengthen her feet. When she was in her tour at then age of about 30 she was told that she had a lung disease. She was also told that she could never dance again. She did not have surgery because she said if I could never dance again I want to die. So she did not have surgery and later passed away.

But she was so dedicated in dance that she would die for it. That has to be true love.

She performed in many roles as a prima ballerina and was at her time one of the best ballerinas in the whole world. She is known as the swan who danced herself to death!

So, se you tomorrow!
